Oakesdale, population 420, lies 38 miles north of Pullman on Highway 27. Oakesdale is one of the oldest communities in the state and has several homes and buildings on the National Historical Register. This eastern Washington community was named in honor of Thomas F. Oakes, then vice president of Northern Pacific Railroad.

Nestled in the picturesque Palouse Hills, and adjacent to Steptoe Butte State Park, some of the local attractions include the historical Barron Flour Mill, City Hall, museum, and the John F. Kelley Homestead Cabin built in 1872.

Barron Flour Mill is a National Historical Site. Contact (208) 882-6590 for information.

Oakesdale City Library & Museum, also a National Historical Site, is open Mon 1:30pm-6:00pm, Wed 9am-1pm. Call (509) 285-4310 for information.

McCoy Valley Museum, founded in 1988, contains many antiques and artifacts from the early years of railroad and businesses of the past. Open to visitors by request. Call (509) 285-4741 for information.

The Diary of Anne Frank Performing January 26-February 12, 2012 Directed by Shirlee Hennigan Rated PG From 1942 to 1944 Anne Frank hid, with her family, during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Her famous diary of this period has become a classic of world literature, published in more than 60 languages. The play is a dramatization of the book. Written by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, who won the Pulitzer Prize for their work, the play won the 1955 Tony Award. Susan Strasburg starred as Anne in the original production. The 1997 revial, (adapted by Wendy Kesselman,) starred Natalie Portman as Anne. This version was nominated for the 1999 Tony awards Best Revival. In addition to the many published editions of the diary, and the two stage versions, Goodrich and Hackett also wrote the 1959 film version. It is with great pride that we bring this classic literature to our stage.
